The biggest boy has kept us busy the past week! On Thursday he had his Rank Advancement Ceremony with Cub Scouts. This was the first year Z participated in Cub Scouts so we had a tiny bit of catching up to do in addition to all the activities the other second grade boys were completing. We went into scouts not really sure about whether or not we wanted to do this...in fact, we signed Z up under a bit of protest. Notice the big ole grin? Yeah, he loves scouts!
Way to go Z! Now you officially have your Bobcat and Wolf. On to Bear!!
Saturday was his soccer game. Since we had a big event for Sunday, M's mom joined us early to see Z play soccer. He's on a 1st/2nd grade team this year so he is one of the older kids. Over the years he's tried basketball, soccer and flag football. I have to say, I think he's strongest at soccer.
Because M doesn't have enough going on, he is also the team coach. It was an accident, but wasn't exactly how we thought things would play out either. The team didn't have a coach at all so he volunteered. Luckily there are two other dads that agreed to co-coach with him.
Our little goalie kicking the ball out of there!!

Sunday was the main event. It was the day Z made his First Communion. We've been preparing for this all school year so have the day actually arrive was a bit of a shock to me. A little angel was watching over us when Z was assigned to his teacher. The one on the right, Mrs. G, is actually someone we have met before. Her son worked with M a few years ago...a small world! To have her as Z's RE teacher was a dream come true for us. :)
Z and Father Wade. I was one of the photographers for his ordination just last year.
The day was a huge success! I surprised myself and cried when Z took communion. I didn't think I would cry!! Watching him walk up to Father Wade with his little hands outstretched and so innocently looking up to Father Wade melted my heart. It's been 8 short years and here we are already! I pray we are doing enough to teach him about God and all the wonderful things he's provided for us. Most importantly I want him to have a close relationship with God.
