BIG NEWS!

February 3, 2010 our family will grow to 5! Yup, we're expecting another little one. :) We've known for a while (since the end of May to be exact) but we hadn't made it to the doctor until today. Now that we know that everything looks good we're ready to share our news and catch you up on a few of the behind the scenes details.

So how am I feeling? Other than feeling a little green each night, the fact that I can barely keep my eyes open has been the biggest side effect. I'm already not sleeping well so the best sleep I get is in the afternoon when the boys go down for naps. I'm pretty much a walking zombie every other hour that I'm awake.

I haven't been totally honest in my blog posts. The trip to San Diego was very much planned. We knew there wouldn't be much opportunity in the next couple of years for another trip like that so we wanted to take one last big one as a family of four. At the time the boys had no idea we were traveling as 5. :)

So the San Diego trip was a wonderful family trip. I was disappointed that I couldn't keep up like I wanted to but that was half expected. I made it through the first two days, but by day 3 the activity was wearing on me. I missed dinner out with our friends which was a bummer but I did convince M to take the boys and go without me. By the time the zoo came around I really wanted to see A's reaction to the elephants. I made it to the zoo, but all the wonderful smells took a toll and after an hour I was hiking back to the entrance to catch a cab back to the hotel. In the end I'm disappointed I didn't get to see him with the elephants, but glad that I missed the elephant taking a poop. I think I might have lost my breakfast.

And the boys? They had interesting reactions. When we first told them their eyes lit up and they were jumping up and down with excitement. Then Z stopped and started crying! He said, "I don't want the baby." M and I sat there, stunned. I said, "Boo, we can't send it back. It's a very special gift from God." That didn't register much. I looked at M and he said, "Z, we need you to help us protect the baby...like a JEDI!!" The crying came to a halt and he said, "Like a Jedi?" That did the trick. Then he was excited again. Apparently I still don't speak Boy. :)

So we've been hiding the news for 7 weeks now. Yes, I know, a long time. It hasn't been too hard with the heat - I don't want to go anywhere!! We won't know the gender for a few more weeks but at this point it doesn't matter. I've had people ask if we're trying for a girl. It's an obvious question and one we were ready for. My standard response, "We're trying for a healthy baby." That's the truth. Boy, girl, we will love the baby that God has sent to us. He hand picked the little one to join our family...

I'm so happy for you guys. I'm stunned by Z's reaction...I guess it will be yet another transition in his young life and A doesn't realize what's coming! God bless and I hope the sickness and fatigue stop soon...my halted at 11 weeks so here's hoping!

Congratulations. Wonder if Z and A will remember when you told them about 3 later in life - that would be surreal. Z should remember. Hope your fatigue goes away soon - that would be rough.
