Day 4 - Da Zoo!

When we first told the boys we were going to CA, Z was most excited about Legoland and A was most excited about the zoo. He is an elephant lover these days. Why elephants I'll never know. It started back in the spring when we visited the Waco Zoo. He always mentioned them first and if you ask him what his favorite animal is you'll hear, "ELEPHANTS"!

So on the last day in CA we made it to the zoo, one of the best zoos in the nation. They just opened a new elephant exhibit in May so our timing was perfect. When we arrived we made a beeline for the big gray guys and wouldn't you know it, they were at the very...very back. UGH! If you've never been to the San Diego Zoo, well, let's just say you don't stroll through it. You hike! Up hill, down hill and the animals! They're not just right next to each other. They are very spread out.
We passed this guy along the way to the back of the zoo. He looks thrilled. M kinda looks like this at the zoo. He's not an animal kind of guy.

A and I on the other hand love every minute of it! We LOVE animals! :)

Da boys. Aren't they the cutest?! :)

So here it is...the moment A had been waiting for...the elephants!!!!

He was thrilled!

Our photographer in the making had a blast too. I gave him our old point and shoot camera to use on the trip. We had all kinds of pictures from his camera. :)

And the hats. Well, it was a bit warmer than we expected that day so I thought the boys might need them. I was not present during the trip to the gift shop so when I met up with the boys they had on these hats that "they could not be talked out of". Z loved it because he was "just like Pablo" (from Backyardigans).

Yup, just like Pablo! :)
This sums up the day at the zoo. Lots of smiles and fun.

OH! If you ask the boys about their favorite part of the zoo, watch out! They'll tell you all about the elephant that pooped. Sorry, not going to go into great detail about that one....
