a thoughtful BOY joke

Today was a good day.  A busy day, but a good day.  Monday the boys started swim again and it has thrown our schedule off a bit.  Monday thru Thursday they swim from 4-5 or 4:30 to 5 for A.  When the boys get home from school it's snack time, quick homework and gather our things to head out again.  Today during snack Z walked up to me and said, "Mom!  I have a joke.  It's not really appropriate but it's funny.  Can I tell you?"  In trying to be the "let-them-talk-and-not-jump-on-them" Mom, I said in my hesitant voice, "Surrre".  He snickered and said, "Ok.  I have 16 balls.  14 are in the bag I'm holding.  Where are the other two?"  *Insert Mom snort*  I smiled at him and he said, "Do you get it?!"  I said, "Yes.  I get it."  From the kitchen table we hear A say, "What?  I don't get it."

On the way home from swim the boys fill M in on the little joke.  He tells me as I'm getting dinner together and he can't help laughing.  Apparently when the boys told him he said, "I don't get it.  Were they in your hands?  Did you drop them?"  Both boys were hilarious..."Nooooo!"  So M carried on, "Well where did they go?"  Finally Z said, "In your nuts!"

It's not all "boy" stuff around here.  Every now and then we get a glimpse of a thoughtful boy.  This past weekend we searched high and low for a foosball table.  Did you know they're a seasonal toy?  Yeah.  We didn't either.  3 stores and 3 phone calls to stores and no luck.  M didn't give up and on Sunday morning a new post on Craig's List went up, he texted the guy and BAM!  We had a foosball table delivered to our house by noon.  It has become the new obsession and I'll totally take it!  Today A said, "Daddy?  Thank you so much for the foosball table.  I love it!"  Awwwww.  Melts my heart.
