Love those internal body clocks! Our big moment to sleep late and we were both tossing and turning at 5 am (7am Texas time - when we have two little visitors). So instead of fight it, we went with it. We were up, checked out and at Starbucks by 7.

Today we drove back to San Fran on another route. We passed the beautiful vineyards I had always imagined, with the huge houses to match. And just for you Kim, we stopped at a Target to pick up a few things...again. Yes, we were there yesterday too. Just to confirm your suspicions - they even smell the same all the way in California! ;)

We drove across the Golden Gate bridge this morning and were able to check into our hotel at 9. Geez - we got an early start, but that was 11 Texas time!
After putting on a few more clothes - it's soo cold here - we hit the ground running. We walked around the Fisherman's Wharf and ate at a delicious
bakery. It was total carb overload but we needed it for the day ahead. We bought some cheesy San Fran jackets because we were both freezing and then we were ready for our bike ride.
Bay City Bikes makes a killing renting out bikes and we went right along with it...on our tandem bike! HAAA! We were complete dorks and it was sooo much fun. Matt said he didn't think we could get any dorkier, but I found a way. I put my hood on because the breeze was so nippy. My backpack purse, my camera and my hood. So glad I'll never see these people again. ;)

Anyway, we biked 8 miles and it was a blast. It took a while to get the hang of the bike and I felt like I was a baby again. I used to ride on the back of my parent's bike in one of those little seats. I could only see left and right, not straight ahead. That's the feel of the tandem - except "Ochoa" was expected to do work and not cheese out on the hills.
The bike ride took us through Crissy Field and across the Golden Gate into Sausalito. It went by so fast! Except for those darn hills! But I am happy to report that "Ochoa" made it up all of them. :)
Once in Sausalito we stopped at a Spring Fair and parked the bike to walk around. Matt was hungry so we decided to get a snack. When we ordered, Matt said, "We'll have a cup of fruit and a chicken panini." The guy asked..."Do you have a name for this chicken?" I could feeeel his wheels turning for a smart ass answer and I knew what the guy meant to ask. So I stepped up and said, "Matt". We walked away and laughed so hard. Matt said, "Why didn't you let me answer?!" I said, "Because I knew what you were going to do!" Our panini was finally ready and when we sat down on the steps by the ocean to eat, Matt handed me my half and said, "Here's your Matt." I must say that my Matt was delicious. ;)
So we ate, grabbed our goofy tandem bike and caught the ferry to head back to San Fran. On the way back we passed Alcatraz - soooo incredible! We won't have time to see it, but I envision a trip back here someday.
We've even seen the Ghiradelli Square. I had to reward myself
with a lemon cupcake and M found a little sundae at Ghiradelli's. :)
The naps we just woke up from felt sooo good and now we're off to dinner. Then we have to figure out how to rebalance the suitcases so my darn 2 pound shoes don't have to go in my purse all the way to CHINA!
