Little Man in a Little Tux
Thursday night we hit the road and headed to Houston for my cousin's wedding. After a four hour trip (one hour just to get out of Austin) we made it to the hotel. We unloaded all of our stuff and visited with Eric and his family. We don't get to see Eric and Becka much because they live in Boulder, CO. right now. Eric is less than a year away from finishing his Ph. D.
Friday morning Matt had to do some work so I took the boys and my grandmother out for a little exploring. We made it to the mall and killed some time before lunch and naptime. Then it was off to the rehearsal. Z did such a great job listening and practicing. I told him to listen to Rob (the best man and Eric's brother). Z loves hanging out with Rob. He thinks he hung the moon.
The rehearsal dinner was so yummy and the boys did great considering we were at the restaurant for 3 1/2 hours. We sat next to my grandmother and Eric's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Benson. I've met them before but it has been years since I've seen them. It was so nice to spend some time with them. At dinner Z was his chatty self. Mrs. Benson told Z that his name rhymes with Mr. Benson's....his name is Jack. Little did she know how Z would latch on to that for the weekend. :)
Saturday morning we woke up and went downstairs to eat breakfast in the meeting room set aside for family. We walked in and Mr. Benson said, "Hi Zach!!" Without missing a beat he said, "Hi Jack!!" The room errupted in laughter. Yup, our little man is on a first name basis with an 84 year old man. :)
We had a quick morning before it was time for naps. I was determined to get the boys down so they wouldn't be grumpy for the 3:30 wedding. Z looked ADORABLE in his little tux. Such a little man!! He did great walking down the aisle with his hand on his belly button for Meghan to hold his arm and his right hand holding the pillow like a plate. I was soooo proud. He even stood quietly with Rob during the ceremony - huge for us. ;)
Then it was time to eat and party. Mr. Benson walked by and asked, "How's the food, Zach?" He said, "Good, Jack". When the music started our little man was one of the first on the dance floor doing the backwards "slip slide". I learned it's a dance he taught himself. As the night went on the DJ did a few games and announcements. At one point he asked for all the kids out on the dance floor. Z was out there and the first to volunteer to help. (Surprise, Surprise) The DJ asked for his name and Z told him. The guests all said in unison..."Hi Zach". The DJ put the microphone to Z and he said, "Hi Everybody!" I laughed so hard I cried. I'm so proud of my little guy - not a nervous bone in his body - so innocent, honest and naturally happy. Exactly like his daddy...well maybe not the innocent part...that's maternal. Z answered questions from the DJ and then it was on to the chicken dance and more dancing for the night.
It was a fun weekend...spending time with family and making great memories. Eric and Becka are going to live happily ever after!

What a cutie in his tux. You are going to have to keep the girls away when he gets older.
