Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. The rain decided to join us for most of it so our plans had to be altered a bit. Matt worked really hard on the playscape in the backyard. We've been in the house two and a half years so we figured it was about time to work on it. I just didn't think we could make it through another summer without it, especially now that Z is old enough for it. Matt had it ready by Monday for our party and it looks great!! He sanded it and then put a nice stain over the whole playscape. He is our hero!!

Monday afternoon we had some friends over for a cookout. We told them to come over for Memorial Day, but we didn't tell them we would have cupcakes and ice cream for Austin's birthday. I really wanted to keep things low key and it turned out great! The rain held off for the afternoon although the backyard was still a bit slushy. It's hard to keep 11 kids away from
outside toys so we gave in and let them run around out back. One of our friends said, "We wish you had told us it was Austin's birthday party, we would have brought a gift." Matt said it perfectly. He told him, "You know, we have enough things. What we don't have enough of is good fellowship. That was the point of this party."

I must say Matt always knows what to say. I sure do miss you guys. I am glad your party didn't get ruined by the weather. I have been worried about my Austin friends with all of the rain.
