Our final park day we took a couple of cabs and hit Universal Studios. Most of the crew really wanted to see the new Harry Potter section and that was our main reason for venturing to this park. I gotta admit...it didn't start off too well.
In the cab on the way over my sister and I rode with the two oldest. As K and I fought to stay awake, the older two were in the row behind us giggling and whispering up a storm. It made my heart happy to hear them having so much fun together and then I thought about the days when they're older. I hope they always remain close and always have laughs together.
We arrived and the cabs pulled up to let all of us out. As the men were paying the cab fare I heard the kids goofing around but these days that is nothing new. Then we heard the worst sound ever. It was an awful scraping sound. Not quite like nails on a chalkboard, more like glasses meeting pavement and then coming into contact with a shoe and sliding underneath them as the child slips on the glasses. Yes, my friends. Z's glasses flew off his face in the horsing around and he step/slid on them. It silenced the group. I reached down with my heart in my throat and picked up a mangled pair of glasses with giant scrapes right in the center of both lenses. It. Was. Awesome. Let's just say the walk into the park was very...tense.
Eventually we managed to brush it off and Z managed to figure out how to cope with scraped glasses. We still managed to have a fun day.
The boys were totally impressed with all the superheroes (don't ask me their names). Little J was trying to figure out what they were all about.
He was totally in love with Spiderman...even though we've never seen anything other than books about him.
And of course you know these boys are all about the video games so the arcade was a huge hit!
Despite the rocky start we pulled it together and made some great memories.
Here we were on day three of our trip and the troops were starting to show a little wear. J only naps in his bed or in the car...never in the stroller...until this day.
And me? I almost cried when I saw a Starbucks on our way back to the cab lines.
But this...this makes it all worth it...
Three sleepy, very content boys crashed out after a day of walking, running, riding, eating, laughing, a little crying (over scratched glasses), and just plain fun.
