Happy Birthday, Z!

I love this kid.  He's our first born.  He's our Brainy Smurf.  He's getting so big.  This year I realized he's half way out of the house.  We have two more presidential elections with him under our roof.  He'll be ready to learn to drive in 5 years.  What the heck?!

So 9 years old.  Z has grown so much over the past year.  Not just physically, but emotionally as well.  I can sit down and have a great conversation with him.  We can talk about current events, school events and his ultimate favorite - Battletech, although I will admit he loses me after the first sentence.  He's my biggest boy, but he's the first to come snuggle with me on the couch or in the morning as I'm waking up.  He goes about his business in the house but I know he always has one eye on me.  Even a single cough can prompt him to ask, "You ok, Mom?"  When M is out of town Z seems to step up.  He helps more around the house and is more attentive to everyone...especially J.

Third grade has been a breeze as far as adjustments go.  He has a phenomenal teacher - we loved her from day one!  I know she is pushing him just enough to keep him interested but is also loving him for who he is as a person.  He finally has grades this year and so far so good!

I am so proud of who he as become and look forward to another year of growth...
