Big Winners

Today was a big day for us. One we've been waiting a year for. Yup. It was the Couple's Triathlon. Last year my dad and M competed in the tri as friends. Once they realized they would have come in third if they'd registered as relatives this year couldn't come soon enough.

I agonized over what to do...get all the boys up before the sun to get into the park and find a parking spot to watch the tri; wait until later in the morning, maybe find a parking spot outside of the park and make it for the awards; or just wait at home. I had a good feeling about this one. Both my dad and M are in the best shape they've ever been in. So as much as I was not looking forward to hauling everyone to the park to sit for 4 hours I knew I would regret it if we didn't go.

5:30 I was up and getting dressed. 6:00 the big boys were up. 6:15 little J was up...and not happy about it. 6:40 we were on the road. 7:15 we were at the park...with a few minutes to spare before the gates were closed.

Before the race started we were able to hang out with the guys and wish them luck before they took off to get ready for the swim.

Here's M after the swim...both guys came in from the lake within seconds of each other!

Then we had to wait for them to come by on the bikes. Little J found some entertainment. :)

And here they come again...within seconds of each other.

And then they take off on foot. See my dad right in front of M? :)

We were so proud to watch them cross the finish line!! It took both of them about an hour and half...not bad if I do say so myself. ;)

So then we waited for the results. We waited and we waited and we waited. The relatives category was the last one! Third place, second place and in FIRST place...Daddy and M!!

Yaaaayyy!!! So proud of them! Now they have to defend the title next year! :)
