"The Big Race!"

If you've talked to Z in the past few weeks you know that he has been dying to run in a "big race". Well this morning he got his chance.

Our friend, Jennifer, completed the Danskin Triathlon last weekend and we were there to support her. I'd post pictures but I haven't received the ok from her. (Yes, I know you're reading this, friend.) Z thought he was going to be in the race with her last weekend and couldn't wait for the race this morning.

At 6:45 we were all loaded in the car; milk cups, Cheerios, double jogger all ready to go. The race was called Piece Of Mind and supported the troops mentally injured during duty. Just before it started we were lucky enough to watch a flyover. The boys were in heaven!!

10 minutes into it the three walking kids were tired. Not a good sign. I have to say, after a few rotations in the jogger - A got to keep his spot - they made it all the way to the end. All 3.1 miles! We had to fill Z in on the grab-and-go process of the water stations - he thought it was time to hang out and chat with the water people. :)

M ran the race at his typical pace and backtracked to find us. We had already made it into the second mile but it was nice to have his help so I could take these pictures.

The look of determination on Z's face as he rounded the last corner was worth the early alarm this morning.

He made me and all the other adults at the finish line laugh when he threw his arms in the air at the end. He was a little like Forrest Gump - I had to chase him down because he just kept running and high fiving people!

The twins ran in and then came the caboose, little A crossed the line too! :)

We were all ready for a yummy breakfast and made our way over to Central Market for some eats and play time. It was such a great event and one we were so glad to spend with friends!
