"It's a *&*!@%#"

After rough night number 5 I threw in the towel this morning and called the doctor's office. Z's fever has been hovering around the 102 mark since Tuesday afternoon, still coughing, a little congestion and no appetite. I had the phone in my hand and called right at 8:01 to make sure we got in today. After a looong visit, a nose swab and thumb prick (very traumatic), we heard the words..."It's a virus". Ohhh how I despise those words!! Kim and I laugh about it because really what it means is: I can't do squat for you, go home and wait it out and good luck with that - so glad I'm not you.

On the bright side (there is one, I've just had to dig deep), I'd rather deal with this now than on our way out of the country. Then I'd have to tell our moms, "It's just a virus". How sad that would be for all of us!!

A had a lovely visit to Dr. G - no nose swabs or thumb pricks for him. I managed to keep him confined to the stroller for an hour and a half - go me! We did find out that he was getting hives, nothing a little Benadryl couldn't take care of. Boy did he nap like a champ! :) When I went in to check on him at 5:30 I couldn't help but giggle. He had just woken up and his hair was sticking up every which way. He was looking around his crib and the dazed look said, "What the heck just happened here?!"

And Mama? Well Daddy knows what lack of sleep does for her, so he helped out during nap time while I lay in bed unconscience for a couple of hours. I woke up at 5 only because Z managed to sneak out of the office unbeknownst to Matt.

I am so sorry about that. Virus is the worst word a mother can hear. I hope everyone is back to normal soon. I want to know your trick with Dr. G. Avery screamed the whole time. Hints??
