Chew

Tomorrow A will be 17 months - I can't believe it!! He's makes me laugh every single day. A shy boy with others, but a little prankster at home. Today I dropped dinner off at a friend's house and her sister was there "helping". I say that because I ended up gabbing with her for an hour - opps! :) I couldn't help myself - she's so fun! Anyway, A just stood right next to me, never venturing too far...my little timid one.

A has never had a lovie. I've spent so much money on stuffed animals only to have him throw them at me when it's time to go to bed. He's never latched on to a blanket, took the pacifier away without any issue, and loves to take Z's bears away just to get a reaction out of him.

Well, I think he's found his lovie. A pair of navy Crocs. I bought them for him months ago and in the past two weeks he has not let go of them! He wakes up in the morning, gets them off his little bookshelf and brings them to me. He holds with outstretched arms and says, "Chew...". So we put them on and off he goes, happy as a lark, until one comes off. Then we repeat the process. Try to take them off of him and you might as well be taking away his best friend!! In his saddest and most pathetic voice you'll hear, "Cheewwww". Which is what we hear at bedtime or when we have to pull them off for a second to change his diaper. Heaven forbid we try to get him to wear another pair of shoes - he'll let you know that he does not approve!!

I have to admit that these shoes have helped with the vocabulary. He always points to the dog jibbit and says, "woof, woof". I just bought him two more and if you're lucky he'll tell you he has a "baa" (ball) and "sh" (fish).

Kids sleep with lovies...we haven't let A sleep with his. What are we in for when winter rolls around?!
